Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician will assist with the performance and maintenance of large production machinery. Position will be performing preventative machine maintenance 20% of the time and will do Predictive maintenance and complete daily tasks the rest of the shift.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
  • General mechanical repairs to equipment, as well as the primary source for Preventative Maintenance.
  • Plays an active role in 6s, Continuous Improvement and warehouse reorganization efforts.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and work with electricity up to 480v
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
  • Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
  • Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts and prepares reports documenting work performed.
  • Orders and installs replacement parts for machines and repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.
  • Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
  • Collaborates with plant engineer regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required. 
  • Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with maintenance manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and/or scissor lift.
  • Welding Fabrication experience is a plus
  • Works well independently and with others and has good communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.

Education and Experience:

  • Some vocational or community college with related coursework or at least years of equivalent experience, required.
  • Must have a Strong Mechanical background and have general electrical knowledge.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Weekend work may be required
  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines. 
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
